Emergency Medical Response & Defensive Firearms Training

This training will focus on two critical areas of preparedness for our Church Security Team: emergency medical response and defensive firearms proficiency.

The first portion will be led by a SWAT medic and will provide hands-on instruction in CPR, AED use, Stop the Bleed, and trauma care. Special emphasis will be placed on providing immediate lifesaving care following an active-shooter or other violent incident. Team members will learn how to assess injuries, control severe bleeding, provide critical interventions, and care for the injured until EMS can safely take over.

Following the medical portion, we will move to the range to revisit and reinforce our defensive shooting fundamentals. The emphasis will be on safe gun handling, accuracy, consistency, and the core skills expected of an armed security team member.

We will conclude the day by completing a firearms qualification using CLEST standards, providing each participant an opportunity to demonstrate safe and competent firearms handling and marksmanship.

The overall goal of this training is to strengthen our ability to respond effectively, safely, and confidently when lives are at risk—both in stopping a threat and providing lifesaving care afterward.
