Alpha One Firearms Training

  Defensive Pistol Level I is NOT for the entry level Student. The training is Advanced. Course is geared for the student who has completed prior verifiable Pistol training, and already understands the skills, and attitude necessary to Carry a concealed pistol for Personal Protection. However wants advance deeper knowledge to win a Defensive Reactive Shooting Situation either Outside of the Home, or Inside of the Home Scenarios.

Topics Include but not limited to the following: Draw to First Shot, Transitions, different Body Mechanics, Changing gears, We start adding time Stressors with a Shot Timer 

Our Topics will always start by revisiting: Basic Pistol Fundamentals, Safe Firearm Handling, de-escalation, situational awareness, Defensive accuracy, Step by Step Drawing from Concealment, tactical reload, emergency reload, stoppage remediation, cover vs concealment,  Review Florida Gun Laws, Federal Laws, reciprocity, Self-Defense laws. 

90% of Defensive pistol will consist of LIVE FIRE SCORED DRILLS, and  LIVE FIRE QUALIFICATION at Homestead Training Center where we will have our Private Tactical Range

STUDENT REQUIRED MATERIAL

A Picture ID. A drivers license or state issued identification card with a picture is acceptable. Student to be successful in this course, they should have the following items, either personally owned, or Alpha One Firearms Training rented or sold

*Quality Pistol appropriate for concealed carry-recommended minimum of 9mm

*Quality Strong Side Hip Holster -recommended form fitted leather or kydex, must cover trigger/trigger guard Quality Appendix holster is also acceptable 

*Quality Belt, designed to carry a holster, and a firearm strongly recommended

*Quality ammunition suitable for practice. Students to have at least 200 rounds 

no reload ammo

*3 magazines with appropriate pouches

*Eye Protection

*Hearing Protection-recommended electronics

*Cover garment any of these is acceptable: light jacket, sports jacket, purse, backpack, 

STUDENT TO INSTRUCTOR RATIO

Due to the depth of content, in-class firearm handling practical skills tests, range qualification and objective based completion criteria; there must be not more than ten (10) students for everyone (1) instructor.

 However when live firearms (Loaded or unloaded) are being handled, there Must be a 1:4 ratio meaning: One Instructor must run relays of 4 Student at a time

COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATE QUALIFICATION

 At the end of the course each student will received a Defensive Pistol Level I  Course Completion Certificate signed by the NRA Certified Instructor, and the Instructor’s ID number. Additionally student will receive a valuable document of all the training discipline student took part in, with his or her Scoring. To gauge future Improvements.

TARGETS AND SCORING

The approved targets are USPSA or IDPA, B8 targets and Qualification Scoring is a 50 Round course of fire that tests the student’s ability to demonstrate defensive accuracy at common defensive distances.

CLASSROOM DRY FIRE CLASSROOM SAFETY BRIEF

Without exception prior to entering the classroom session of the Course which requires “NO LIVE AMMUNITION” 

Instructor along with another RSO “If available” will conduct a 

Full Security Screening, and crosscheck inspection to each Student’s Firearm, Range Bag, Equipment, in addition each student will receive a PAT-DOWN by a Cadre of the Same Gender. Each students empties his/her pockets, hats, etc for visual and physical Inspection. Along with Installing each firearm with a chamber Safety Flag for additional safety. Up to and Including checking the Room for possible live ammunition. Removing any live ammo personally to a secure location OUTSIDE the Classroom. 

.Making the entire INTERIOR of the classroom Pass the Entrance Door “STERILE AREA”.  Lastly prior to any dryfire.

Instructor will Inform Student the SAFE direction to point the Firearm.

This process will happen upon Re-entry to the “STERILE AREA”. 

RANGE LIVE FIRE SAFETY BRIEF, MEDICAL BRIEF, 

MEDICAL KIT LOCATION

Prior to any and all live fire will be conducting the Specific Range Rule up to and Including All the Basic Firearm Safety Rules. Designation of Role for Primary Responder, First Responder, Communicators, Transporters will be explained and delegated. In case of an unlike Medical Emergency.
