| Explores practical strategies for engaging students in active, collaborative learning, moving beyond lecture-based delivery toward structured group work, peer learning and problem-based approaches. Participants experience several techniques as learners before examining how to adapt them for large and small classes across disciplines. The session closes with troubleshooting guidance for common challenges — uneven group participation, managing time, and assessing collaborative work fairly. Learning Outcomes By the end of this session, participants will be able to: • Differentiate between passive and active learning approaches and their impact on student engagement. • Design at least two active or collaborative learning activities appropriate to their discipline. • Apply strategies for structuring and facilitating group work that supports accountability and participation. • Apply UDL principles to ensure collaborative activities are accessible to a diverse student body. |
