Marian St Theatre for Young People

Join us for this one-day acting workshop, where we’ll create and devise a festive performance together, because with Christmas just around the corner, it’s time to bring those Christmas stories off the shelf!

Skills We Will Learn Together

This festive, high-energy workshop guides children to devise, rehearse and perform their own short Christmas show in one day. In a supportive, play-based environment, students will:

• Work collaboratively in small groups
• Brainstorm and improvise original Christmas stories
• Plan a clear story structure (beginning, middle, end)
• Create and sustain fun festive characters
• Use their voice and body with confidence
• Explore simple staging and space
• Practise time management to finish a performance
• Solve creative problems as they arise
• Build confidence performing for an audience
• Reflect on what they learned and achieved

Parking - use the street parking (there’s plenty of it!). Do not park in the driveway or drive into the church grounds for the safety of students and other users.

Finding your class - On the day, head to the big hall opposite the tennis courts. One of our MSTYP tutors will be there to guide you to the right room.

We use a couple of different spaces at this venue, so if your class isn’t in the main hall, it may be in the small hall at the back of the site (about 20 metres further along). If you’re unsure, just ask any MSTYP staff or tutor, we’re always happy to help.
