Rongomamau The Past & The Future
Join us for an immersive afternoon exploring Rongomamau, an ancient Māori knowledge system centred on restoring harmony, balance and resonance within ourselves, our relationships and the world around us.
This special gathering is an opportunity to hear, experience and discuss Rongomamau first-hand, and to explore the role this mātauranga could play in the future of health and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The afternoon will begin with a keynote from Umutakarangi Timoti Pahi, the last knowledge keeper of Rongomamau, who will share the foundations of the knowledge, its relevance to the challenges people face today, and why preserving and restoring this knowledge matters now.
Guests will then have the opportunity to experience elements of Rongomamau through guided movement and Maorooro breathwork workshops, offering a practical introduction to the ways Rongomamau works with the body, breath, awareness and connection.
The afternoon will conclude with a relaxed fireside conversation and Q&A, bringing together ideas about where Rongomamau could contribute in the years ahead, including its potential role alongside existing approaches to health, wellbeing, community resilience and personal development.
This is an invitation to come with curiosity: to listen, experience, ask questions and imagine what might become possible when ancient knowledge is given a place within the future.
