This training session is "invite-only" and is intended only for responder's within ECRC's training program who are listed as a Barge Responder.
08:00 - 16:00 - October 20-21, 2026
The Barge Responder training session will be held over the course of two consecutive days at Pier 10 in the Port of Hamilton, ON. Subjects covered will include:
- Vessel emergency procedures and drills
- Barge deployment with tugboat
- System run-ups (i.e., fire pumps, portable capstans, hydraulic deck crane, anchor windlass, generators, etc.)
- Current Buster sweep system deployment, operation, and recovery
- Single-vessel sweeps using a boom vane
- Proper and effective communication
Appropriate work attire is required.
- Work clothes - pants, work shirt (long-sleeve), work jacket
- CSA approved safety boots
- General purpose work gloves
- Safety glasses
- (Optional) hardhat*
- (Optional) PFD or life jacket*
- (Optional) Hearing protection*
*Hardhats, life jackets, and hearing protection will be provided on request when applicable.
Lunch will be provided by ECRC both days. Please notify us ahead of time with any dietary restrictions or food allergies.
