Single Mothers Support Group - November
Facilitated by Dr. Miriam (Mimi) Araya and Jess Umble, the Single Mother Support Group will provide a place for single mothers (and those looking to better care for single mothers in their communities) to gather together in reciprocal care. As a monthly meeting space, this support group will practice the principle of “Take Space / Make Space,” inviting single mothers to share, be seen and move together from a place of power, caring for one another and our communities.
As single mothers, we are too often met with shame, stigma, and blame instead of the support and care necessary for our survival and the survival of our children. We deserve stronger systems of support that recognize our vulnerability, respond to our realities with compassion, and understand that no one should be expected to carry the weight of raising a child or children alone. We have a vision for a different kind of community, one rooted in collective care, mutual support, and love, where single mothers do not have to navigate the weight of motherhood in isolation. Together, we are building a beloved community of support where we can share the load, and create the conditions for mothers and children to thrive.
This is a free offering. Childcare and snacks will be included. RSVP using the link in our bio.
