Christmas Pyjamas – 5 Week Sewing Course

Get ready for Christmas and join us for a fun and festive 5-week sewing course, where you’ll create your very own personalised Christmas pyjama set.

You’ll be tutored by Charlotte, founder of Pimm’s & Needles, textile author and experienced sewing tutor, who will guide you through each stage of the project in a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment.

Over the five weeks, you’ll make a pair of pyjama bottoms from scratch, while also learning how to transform a simple T-shirt into a beautiful, personalised pyjama top.

Make your own pyjama bottoms

You’ll be guided through the process of making your pyjama bottoms from start to finish, including:

• Understanding your sewing pattern and choosing your size
• Preparing and cutting your fabric
• Constructing the pyjama bottoms
• Sewing seams and hems
• Creating and inserting an elasticated waistband
• Learning neat finishing techniques

You’ll be able to choose your own fabric, so your pyjamas can be as festive, fun, colourful or stylish as you like.

Customise your pyjama top

To complete your set, we’ll also explore the creative side of sewing by customising a simple T-shirt to coordinate with your pyjama bottoms.

You’ll learn how to create and add your own appliqué design, as well as exploring hand embroidery and decorative embellishment to give your top a unique personal touch.

You could create a traditional Christmas design, add your favourite festive motif or keep things a little more subtle and stylish. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with fabrics, stitches, buttons, embroidery and other embellishments to create something completely your own.

The decorative techniques you learn can also be used on future sewing projects, clothing and home textiles.

What you’ll need

You will need to provide your own sewing pattern and fabric for the pyjama bottoms, as well as a plain T-shirt to customise.

We’ll provide guidance on suitable patterns and fabric quantities before the course begins, so you can come prepared with everything you need.
