What do GPS, treasure hunting, technology, creativity, and the great outdoors have in common? That’s "Geocaching"!

Geocaching is a worldwide modern-day treasure hunt where people use GPS-enabled devices or smartphones to find hidden containers ranging from tiny caches to elaborate creations. It combines exploration, problem-solving, technology, and creativity—and there’s a cache waiting to be discovered almost anywhere.

In this presentation, you’ll learn what geocaching is, how to get started as a complete beginner, and what it takes to find, hide, and create your own geocaches.
We’ll explore the different types of caches, how GPS coordinates are used, and some of the creative challenges that make geocaching such a unique hobby.

Geocaching provides a great opportunity to put maker skills to work. We’ll look at how Makerspace can help turn your ideas into actual geocaches, using its tools and resources to create unique geocache containers, clever puzzles, custom components, and other creative elements that can be shared with the worldwide geocaching community.

Come discover how making + technology + adventure can lead to your next great find!
