VASE NIGHT
Hand Building Workshop at Rootbound Farms

Your flowers deserve better than a pickle jar.

We're taking clay downtown for six Wednesdays. After Rootbound Farms closes for the day, their shop turns into a hand building studio: long tables, good company, and clay on everyone's hands.

THE EVENING

You'll build a bottle-style vase from slabs of clay, shaped with a rounded body and a narrow neck. Add handles on the sides if you like, or keep it clean and simple. Then paint it: bold leaf shapes, wavy stripes, tiny dots, or one deep color all over.

Fill it with fresh flowers, a few dried stems, or a sprig of eucalyptus, or leave it empty and let it look good on the shelf. Your vase will be ready right after the holidays, a fresh start for the new year.

WHAT YOU'LL MAKE

• One hand built bottle-style vase
• Optional handles, shaped your way
• Color with underglazes, in any design you like
• A glazed interior that holds water for fresh flowers

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Everything: clay, tools, underglazes, aprons, glazing and kiln firing at our studio, and an instructor with you for every step. This is a longer session than our studio classes, so there's time to shape it and paint it.

GOOD TO KNOW

Clay takes its time. After class, we bring your vase back to the studio to glaze and fire it, which turns soft clay into ceramic you'll keep for years. We'll text you when it's ready, usually in 2–3 weeks, which puts most vases right after the holidays.

Never touched clay? Perfect. Most of our students hadn't either.
