Stress Relief: Running Therapy

Running therapy is an accessible way to support your mental and physical well-being through regular, gentle running. You don’t need to be an experienced runner. It’s not about speed or performance, but about moving at a relaxed pace and discovering what physical activity can do for you.

Regular outdoor exercise can help with low mood, stress and low energy. It can boost your energy, improve your mood and help you feel calmer. Running therapy can be an alternative or a complement to talking with a psychologist.

Throughout the program, you gradually build up your running at a pace suited to your fitness level and abilities. You receive guidance and a running plan so you can also train independently. The aim is not just to become more active, but to experience how physical activity can support your recovery and well-being.

Good to know

  • The running therapy sessions consist of a 6-week introduction with weekly sessions on Tuesday morning (9:00-10:00)
  • Separate from the 6-week introduction, you are welcome to attend extra sessions on Thursday afternoon (15:30-16:30) that are open to all students
  • We will meet at the JK building on Roeterseiland campus. You will receive more info on the practicalities a few days before the first session.
