Divis Educational Services, LLC

Humanities at Divis Educational Services is a joyful adventure into cultural historical developments, especially through literature, art, music, religion / philosophy, and the interplay of scientific innovation. This year, we'll take a chronological, project-based journey through the emergence and development of the United States, including its government and economy, using simulations / role play, games, demonstrations, literature / writing, library research, and fine art explorations. Participants will create a notebook of work and reflections. While Walch United States History will be our spine, participants will also receive much direct instruction on literature analysis (to include many genres and primary sources), grammar, and composition and will at times be required to provide their own book copies, typically available at public libraries. A list of titles will be available at the start of the class, and there will need to be some daily reading between classes.

As this course is suitable for a complete high school social studies and/or language arts credit, it is not recommended for those who are not able to read and write independently. Please seek input from the director with questions about whether this class would be a good fit for your child's needs and abilities.

Also, please note that this segment is part #1 of four parts, making a yearlong class running from September 2026 through May 2027. You are making a commitment to a YEAR-LONG program. Participants must re-enroll for each segment prior to the start of each.

For those not previously enrolled, contact the director to discuss prior to completing the enrollment process.

Participants, please bring a sack lunch and drink, and wear good walking shoes, as we often eat lunch and/or complete activities in nearby parks.
