November: Gifts from the Studio
The best gift on the list is the one they made.
This month, Kids Clay Club makes things people will actually use. Over four Mondays, makers build a mug, a plate and a set of ornaments, using real techniques with real tools. Then they glaze everything with intention. These aren’t craft-table projects. They’re gifts that end up in someone’s kitchen for years.
New to the club? Welcome. We cover score and slip, slab building and glazing from the beginning, so first-timers keep up just fine.
THE FOUR WEEKS
Mon, Nov 2: Carved ornaments. A set of four, with designs carved by hand rather than stamped, and names and the year on the back.
Mon, Nov 9: The gift mug. Slab-built from our template, with a handle that holds. The hardest project of the month, and the one grown-ups fight over.
Mon, Nov 16: Cookies for Santa plate. An 8-inch plate with raised shapes and a carved name and date, made to come out every Christmas Eve.
Mon, Nov 23: Glaze and surface. Layering colors, wax resist, and choosing glazes on purpose. This is where it all comes alive.

- A grown-up signs a paper waiver at drop-off on the first day.
- Missed a week? We can’t offer makeups or partial refunds.
- The mug and plate are finished with a food-safe glaze.
- Pieces are fired and ready by early December. Pickup is at the studio. We’ll text you when they’re ready.
- If a piece breaks in the kiln, we’ll make it right.
- Minimum of 3 makers to run.
