This special winter break workshop combines the art of throwing pottery on the wheel with the excitement of experimenting with beautiful, eye-catching glaze techniques.

Day 1: Throwing Consistent Mugs on the Pottery Wheel

Get ready to get your hands muddy! Spend the first day learning the techniques needed to throw more consistent, beautifully shaped mugs on the pottery wheel. Whether you're newer to the wheel or looking to improve your skills, you'll work on centering clay, pulling even walls, shaping your mug, and creating a form you can be proud of. With guided instruction and plenty of hands-on practice, you'll build confidence and develop the skills to create pottery with greater consistency and control.

Day 2: Four Exciting Glazing Techniques

On day two, discover how glaze can transform a simple pottery piece into a work of art! Explore four different decorative glazing techniques and experiment with color, pattern, texture, and movement to create unique finishes.

• Sgraffito: Learn to scratch through a layer of glaze to reveal contrasting colors and create detailed designs, patterns, and illustrations.
• Layered & Drippy Glazes: Experiment with layering different glazes to create beautiful drips, blends, and unexpected color combinations.
• Specialty Underglaze Designs: Explore underglazes to create custom designs, detailed artwork, and colorful patterns that make each piece uniquely yours.
• Rainbow Flux Glaze Designs: Discover the magic of rainbow flux effects and watch colors interact to create vibrant, flowing, and often surprising results.

You'll learn how different glazing methods work and how to use them creatively to give your pottery a personalized finish.
