Palletiser Operation and Theory

This Pathway Book has been created to equip you with the essential concepts, theoretical knowledge, and technical skills required to excel as a Palletizer Operator.

Throughout this Pathway Book, you will see information that applies to the different Palletizers in use at Ball manufacturing facilities. Those differences may include make and model, control panel operations, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) screen layout.

While there are some design differences between the palletizers used by Ball, each one performs the same functions and processes.

Palletizers are designed to place layers of finished cans in pre-determined patterns separated by plastic divider sheets or cards. When the desired number of layers has been achieved, a top frame is inserted on top of the final layer before the finished pallet is discharged below.

Finished pallets are then strapped per customer specifications before being tagged and transported to the Warehouse for storage prior to shipping to the customers. Some pallets may be directly loaded into waiting trucks for transport to the customer.
