Tactical Hyve

I am very picky about instructors and courses. Dorr is a very experienced instructor and really knows his stuff, which is why I chose this course. Even for an experienced shooter, I learned a lot. Dorr explained the material very well and even shared some real world experience from his days a member of the SOF community; he’s also very down to earth and approachable. You will do a LOT of shooting during the course. Overall, I was impressed and will take some more courses from Tactical Hyve in the near future.

High quality instruction from high quality instructors.

This class was nothing short of amazing, fun, and educational! I come from a background of training with mainly just pistols and focused around simulation based training facilities for my fundamentals and tactics. After taking this weekend’s course, I was surprised to see how much of that prior background really showed and helped me get through the course and not make me feel lost. As Dorr constantly mentioned throughout the weekend, it all comes down to those fundamentals (especially in pistols) and getting those constant reps and drills in on a live fire range was super helpful as well as the feedback given not just from Dorr, but from my other shooting colleagues that gave some helpful tips and hints along the way.

I was worried at first regarding the amount of ammo we would go through even though the course description said around 500 rifle and 300 pistol, since a few previous reviews said they significantly surpassed that amount of rounds in their courses (especially for a 9-4 course each day). To my relief though, there were enough pauses in between shooting drills as well as Door talking to us about techniques and background that it felt like a great balance of an actual classroom setting mixed in with practical application and enjoyment of shooting!

As for the instructor himself, Dorr was as personable, awesome, and hilarious as I could hoped for and as he shows to be in both the YouTube videos and in the War Room settings. Out of all the instructors I’ve had throughout my training years, he has shown to be very calm, articulate, and effective in terms of his communication and demeaner. I can only hope to find more time in my weekends and busy schedule to sign up for more courses with you guys and expand my horizons as I continue on my journey of shooting and firearms!

Cheat Codes 2 was great! Myles and the TH team did a great job of taking the principles from Cheat Codes 1 and building upon them to improve each individuals shooting performance. I only wish you were coming back to Chicago before next Summer. Highly recommend this course and will be taking it again. Live, Learn and Pass On

Love the weak hand/shoulder rifle shooting.

The class was worth the time and money to attend. I am now much more confident and competent to transition from carbine to pistol. Instructor Dorr provides the right amount of build upon exercises to help you reach your peak potential during the time. I specifically appreciate the knowledge and attitude that he is willing to share from his real world experiences. I continue to improve by training with the Hyve. Count me in for more.

Loved the course! CoF was well put together, enough rounds to get a baseline set to give you the tools you need to build after. The instructors are top notch! Loved the shoot in/shoot out standards. Definitely will be attending future courses

This is now the 2nd rifle class I have taken with Dave, and the 4th class I have taken with Myles at Tactical Hyve. I love level of knowledge available from all instructors and the professional instruction. This class in particular is NOT for new rifle operators. This class I feel is designed for those shooters who are familiar with rifle operation AND handgun shooting….meaning you have done it before and can repeat the action consistently with the intention of improvement.

Being a Phoenix Police Firearms Instructor, this class offers several different components that reach beyond what can be taught on a controlled range. Static movement, dynamic movement, and shooting while moving are all good techniques ALL rifle operators should experience if you want to test your abilities. This class will make you want to keep training. Just given the taste of what you can do with a rifle after 2 days of improvement should show you this skill diminishes quickly.

I enjoyed the standards test given at the beginning of the class and then again at the end. For some, this was a great way to show your progress in just 16 short hours. Low light/No light shooting is extremely difficult and for those who have little experience in low light conditions, this class will test your abilities once again. I highly recommend this class for those rifle operators who are looking to refine their skill set at ‘running a rifle’.

We had a safety incident and it was handled very well.

Man, what a fun weekend and worth every penny. Getting to go back to basics and really drill them in a safe environment with no pressure really lets you settle in a focus on the fundaments while refining and learning new skills to improve. I saw a considerable improvement in my ability to assess, modify and improve my skill set. Per usual, the instructors were fun, informative, and focused on our safety; giving valuable one on one instruction to help us improve. This was my second class with them, and I am already planning several more adventure with Tactical Hyve this fall.

This course was outstanding! It took everything that was introduced in TPC1 and built on that foundation and continued to expand that experience. Dorr and Dave were fantastic instructors, providing tons of great knowledge and “real-world” experience to bring insight into why we were being taught what we were. I would 100% recommend this course as the next level of progression for anyone wanting to learn how to really run and understand their weapon platforms.

Class ran at a good fundamental building structure, it was student centered moving with the pace of the students. We had a wide range of abilities in their proficiency to handle their weapons. Dorr and Dave had great balance as instructors, both kept the class fun and engaging while keeping in perspective the real world application and lethality of what we are training with.

Excellent class. The instructors were all top notch. They were very active in providing positive feedback on what needed to be corrected. The drills all built on each other and the transitions from one to the next were very smooth. There was a lot of focus on transitioning from rifle to pistol. I have attended other classes where the transition was just an afterthought. The class provides you with a wealth of information to apply to your own training. I can’t really say enough good things about the class. Just take it and you will see.

Dorr is a great teacher, I really enjoyed the Tactical Pistol 2 course. I like taking courses (like this) that help keep my current skills in the correct lane while also having an instructor give me things to work on.

I especially found one of Dorr’s closing statements and the meaning behind it to be very important: “Bad guys get to use violence. Good guys HAVE to use violence.” I wish more people who carry a gun for defense would take this mantra to heart.

If at all possible I will take future Tactical Hyve courses.

Bert is an exceptional instructor and course material was comprehensive and superbly presented.

I went with my longer-range hunting rifle and am now so much more confident in using it. Plus it was a lot of fun.

Bert and Nick are awesome! My confidence and skills behind the rifle significantly improved because of this class. Would highly recommend to all riflemen.
