The aims of the course are to provide an understanding of the main concepts of health and safety, to promote the benefits of a health and safety culture and to clarify the roles and responsibilities of individuals and supervisors.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course delegates will:

Understand the importance of supervising Health and Safety in the workplace and the reasons for implementing systems to ensure employees behave responsibly
Understand the importance of their role with regard to preventing, reporting and investigation of accidents
Have an awareness of the legislative requirements and associated guidance for Health and Safety in the workplace
Be able to recognise the reasons for systematic and planned Health and Safety controls
Be able to identify and evaluate workplace and occupational ill health hazards
Know and understand the contribution supervisors should make regarding monitoring and improving Health and Safety policies and procedures in the workplace

Who Should Attend

This course is intended to equip persons in a supervisory position with adequate knowledge to ensure that their company operates in a safe manner and is aimed at:

Supervisors
Middle management and the owners of small businesses
Anyone with a responsibility for Health and Safety

A Level 2 knowledge of Health and Safety is recommended, but not essential.

Duration

The course is held over three days.

Examination

The course will be assessed by a two hour multi-choice examination.

All successful candidates will receive the nationally recognised Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification.
