“Interacting with People With Disabilities" (IWD)®, is a comprehensive training program that provides best practices and up-to-date approaches, techniques, and tactics to promote better interactions with people with disabilities and mental health disorders in our communities.

Attendees will:

Learn how to recognize characteristics of various disabilities and mental health disorders, and learn tools to aid in communication with individuals living with these conditions.
Acquire tools to help avoid inadvertently escalating a situation with someone who may have sensory or communication differences.
Better understand a variety of mental health disorders as well as developmental and intellectual disabilities, including Autism, so they can be prepared for interactions that may not go as expected.
Learn effective strategies that may de-escalate confrontations with people with disabilities and mental health issues.
