CONFIRMATION EMAIL: Read your confirmation email thoroughly as it contains important information on how to prepare for enjoy and be successful in your course. ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION: You must attend and actively participate in 100% of your scheduled classes and all associated activities. If you are tardy absent or fail to actively participate during any portion of your course you will not be eligible for Certification or a Refund. CODE OF CONDUCT: You must adhere to Medi-Pro’s Code of Conduct while participating on one of our courses. Hygiene and attire must take other participants’ comfort into account including modesty and odors. Longer hair must be kept out of other participants’ mouth and eyes. Do not wear jewelry or accessories that might cause injury or entanglement. Smoking is restricted to designated areas and times. This includes vaporization products and accessories. Use of electronic devices is limited to breaks or when the Instructor deems appropriate to the course content. Physical contact with other participants must be consensual appropriate and limited to necessary skill components. You must amicably work with and demonstrate respect for all participants regardless of Race Nationality Gender Age Religious Political or Philosophical views Physical Fitness Motivations Experience Skill Level Sexual Orientation Appearance or Style of Dress. Do not use language or make statements that are profane disrespectful or offensive to any participants. Do not consume alcohol or illegal/recreational substances during the course on classroom grounds or close enough before the course as to affect you during class. Prescription medications are permitted provided their consumption does not negatively impact the other participants. You are permitted and encouraged to ask relevant questions throughout the course however you must not persistently contradict or undermine the Instructor. You must not engage in any behaviors that compromise your own safety that of the other participants Medi-Pro representatives or any bystanders. You must not engage in any behaviors that compromise the opportunity for others to learn and participate. PERSONAL ITEMS: Bringing a few essential items with you to class can make the entire course more enjoyable. This added level of comfort can also help ensure you learn and retain the skills as well as meeting all the certification requirements as you participate. Making sure you can see and hear your instructor classmates and multi-media presentations is important. Although our Instructors will speak clearly and our video/projector screens are large enough to ensure full classroom visibility you must bring any corrective eyewear or hearing aides that you might need with you in your first aid course. In some cases you might need reading glasses for your first aid manual and text based activities or you may need corrective lenses to clearly view the videos slideshows and instructor-led first aid demonstrations. If you normally require daily medications you should definitely bring them with you to class and adhere to your normal schedule. You might also find that your active participation in the first aid skills and activities throughout the day can increase your metabolic demands and the corresponding medication amounts. Basically bring extra medications in case your needs increase throughout the day. It's better to have these with you and not end up needing them rather than leaving them at home and wishing you had brought them. A few other suggestions include clean indoor footwear reusable mug refillable water bottle food for meals and snacks through the duration of the course clothing which allows for modesty and comfort during physical activity spare shirt and sweater in case of temperature changes or excessive sweating medications that you might need throughout the day glasses or contact lenses if required for reading pen and notepad kneepads if required and lightly scented/unscented deodorant. BREAKS & LUNCH: Your course will be conducted in an "Adult Learning" format which means that you will be free to excuse yourself from the classroom at any time if you need to use the washroom answer a phone call/text or attend to any other urgent matter that can't wait until the next scheduled break. Medi-Pro administration and Instructors recognize that unanticipated circumstances may occur outside the classroom which require your immediate attention but will ask that you limit these distractions to only those that are essential and to minimize the disruption to other participants. If you become thirsty or hungry you are encouraged to keep yourself nourished and hydrated in the classroom provided this does not interrupt hands-on activities or interfere with other’s safety participation and learning. There will also be formal breaks scheduled throughout the day which can be utilized for communications snacks lunch and beverages. There will be a 15 minute break approximately every 2 hours depending on classroom progress and participant pacing. You must arrive with enough water or other beverages to keep you hydrated throughout each classroom session. There will be one 30-minute Lunch break every day. Access to local stores and restaurants may be limited. You must arrive with enough ready-to-eat snacks and meals to keep you nourished throughout each classroom session. Use of electronics is discouraged except during breaks and when the Instructor deems it specifically appropriate. Smoking including the use of vaporization products is limited to designated times and areas. Consumption of alcohol or illicit substances in the classroom facility or grounds is prohibited. Impairment as observed or presumed by the Instructor will preclude you from participation and certification. HYGIENE AND ATTIRE: Participating will involve working in close proximity with your classmates. Respectful physical contact is an unavoidable component of hands-on First Aid training. Out of consideration for your classmates please arrive with hygiene and the comfort of others in mind. Although it is impossible to define the term "appropriate" when it comes to clothing choices there are few universal considerations. Slogans logos or images that could reasonably be categorized as objectively offensive or controversial must not be worn or displayed. Clothing which is soiled to the point that incidental contact may contaminate other clothing equipment or furnishings are not acceptable in the classroom. Clothing or hygiene products which emit a strong odor may make it difficult for other participants to concentrate or enjoy the lessons and activities. Hygiene and beauty products should be unscented or lightly-scented only. Jewelry or accessories that could cause injury or entanglement may need to be removed (please do not bring expensive jewelry or irreplaceable heirlooms). Longer hair needs to be secured in a way that prevents it from getting into others mouths and eyes. Your clothing should allow you to participate with comfort and modesty. Slogans or images that might be considered controversial disrespectful or confrontational should be avoided. Some types of clothing may restrict your ability to participate or compromise your classmates' comfort. Although it is impossible to define every aspect of the term "inappropriate" ahead of time we ask that you take this into consideration when making your choices. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Participating will involve significant physical activity. If you have medical conditions physical injuries or limitations that might compromise your ability to safely participate in these physical activities you must notify your Instructor at the start of your course. Your Instructor will make reasonable efforts to adapt and accommodate your limitations but it is your responsibility to decide whether or not you can safely complete any particular task. Your Instructor will balance the classroom between interactive theory components and hands-on physical activities and you must actively participate in all the sections to successfully complete your course. The physical requirements are not objectively intensive or difficult but they do involve specific and repetitive movements. If you have any significant restrictions on your movement or exertion capacity you should contact Medi-Pro well in advance of your scheduled course date to ensure that we can accommodate your limitations and provide the greatest opportunities for successful participation. Physical activities typical of these types of courses include kneeling on the ground laying face-down on the ground laying face-up on the ground walking up and down stairs and sloped or uneven surfaces rolling and lifting an adult sized classmate performing CPR chest compressions on a CPR mannequin using a pocket mask with a one-way valve to inflate the lungs of a CPR mannequin sitting for 15-30 minutes at at time standing for 15-30 minutes at a time tying simple knots and tearing medical tape. CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations initiated by the customer more than 14 days prior to the course start date are eligible for a refund less a non-refundable deposit of $500 and the cost of any materials already issued to the participant or by mutual agreement Medi-Pro may transfer the participant to an alternate course date. Cancellations initiated by the customer less than 14 days prior to the course start date are not eligible for a refund or transfer. PHOTOGRAPHIC CONSENT: Medi-Pro First Aid may take classroom photographs or video during your course for illustrative and educational purposes on our website and social media. By attending the course you are consenting to have your picture taken for these purposes. You may verbally withdraw your permission any time by notifying your Instructor. ELECTRONIC CERTIFICATION: Canadian Red Cross Certificates are issued and accessed electronically through the Canadian Red Cross MyRC web portal. Medi-Pro First Aid will upload successful Canadian Red Cross course participants to an online course roster within the MyRC system at which time the system will send the participant an email with their Certificate attached as a PDF. Although every effort is made facilitate this process as quickly as possible it can take up to 10 days after course completion for Medi-Pro to upload participants to the MyRC platform. Medi-Pro First Aid assumes no liability for real or potential consequences of delayed certificate access due to roster processing time or Canadian Red Cross certification system malfunctions. DISMISSAL POLICIES: Grounds for dismissal or non-certification include but are not limited to any behaviors posing a risk to others sexual harassment or Inappropriate touching aggressive behavior written electronic verbal physical threats any form of real or implied violence towards staff instructors or participants continuation of any unwanted behavior after being requested to stop physical abuse of Medi-Pro First Aid property failure to attend and actively participate in 100% of the course failure to meet the practical skill requirements of the course failure to meet the written evaluation requirements of the course any behavior that is disruptive to the other participants and their learning consumption or being under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances rough housing or horseplay poor hygiene unrelated to medical conditions repeatedly disputing Instructor’s knowledge or authority constant and unnecessary chatter smoking outside of designated times and areas failure to complete pre-course assignments use of phones or electronic devices outside of designated times non-disclosure of relevant medical concerns discrimination towards Instructors or other participants based on Race Religion Political or Philosophical views Gender Sexual Orientation or any other reason vandalism or littering use of Profanity lighting Fires harassment of non-participants failure to arrive with appropriate clothing hygiene or supplies long hair repeatedly getting into other participants' mouth or eyes any behavior the Instructor or Medi-Pro staff deem unacceptable. If a participant is to be dismissed for any reason the following procedures will be followed where possible. After a first offense the participant will receive an in-class verbal warning from their instructor which may be followed or accompanied by a written warning. If the behavior continues the participant will be dismissed at which time a written incident report will be created and filed. If the behavior is creating an immediate hazard or distraction or obviously cannot be corrected the participant may be dismissed without warning. Once dismissed the participant will not be re-admitted to the program. REMEDIATION: In the event you meet the attendance and participation requirements but are unsuccessful during your first attempt at the written or practical examinations you may be permitted to schedule additional attempts if deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis. If deemed appropriate and permitted additional examination attempts will not be scheduled or confirmed until Medi-Pro administration has consulted with your Instructor and created a remediation plan specifically for you. Remediation may include attending a future course or portions of a future course before scheduling your additional attempts. ASSUMPTION OF RISKS: Regarding Medi-Pro Response Solutions and Medi-Pro First Aid (“Medi-Pro”) the Canadian Red Cross and their respective directors officers employees instructors agents representatives volunteers independent contractors subcontractors sponsors successors and assigns (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Releasees”). I am aware that participating in first aid training involves many risks dangers and hazards including but not limited to: slips trips and falls operating on uneven terrain exposure to changing weather conditions streams creeks bodies of water heights lifting and rolling other course participants kneeling laying down and getting up from the ground encounters with domestic and wild animals including dogs and bears infectious disease contracted through viruses bacteria parasites and fungi which may be transmitted through direct or indirect contact negligent first aid failure to act negligence of other persons and NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES . I understand that negligence includes failure on the part of the releasees to take reasonable steps to safeguard or protect me from or warn me of the risks dangers and hazards referred to above. I freely accept and fully assume all such risks dangers and hazards and the possibility of personal injury death or property damage or loss resulting therefrom. RELEASE OF LIABILITY WAIVER OF CLAIMS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT In consideration of the Releasees accepting my registration to participate in first aid training and permitting my use of the classroom building facilities outdoor space parking and other training facilities (hereinafter “the premises”) I hereby agree as follows: 1. TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may in the future have against THE RELEASEES and TO RELEASE THE RELEASEES from any and all liability for any loss damage expense or injury including death that I may suffer or that my next of kin may suffer as a result of my use of or my presence on the premises or travel beyond the designated training areas DUE TO ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE BREACH OF CONTRACT OR BREACH OF ANY STATUTORY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE INCLUDING ANY DUTY OF CARE OWED UNDER THE OCCUPIERS LIABILITY ACT R.S.B.C. 1996 c. 337 ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES. I UNDERSTAND THAT NEGLIGENCE INCLUDES THE FAILURE ON PART OF THE RELEASEES TO TAKE REASONABLE STEPS TO SAFEGUARD OR PROTECT ME FROM OR WARN ME OF THE RISKS DANGERS AND HAZARDS REFERRED TO ABOVE. 2. TO HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASEES for any and all liability for any damage to property of or personal injury to any third party resulting from my use of or presence on the premises or travel beyond the training area 3. This Release Agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs next of kin executors administrators assigns and representatives in the event of my death or incapacity 4. This Release Agreement and any rights duties and obligations as between the parties to this Release Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of British Columbia and no other jurisdiction and 5. Any litigation involving the parties to this Release Agreement shall be brought solely within British Columbia and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of British Columbia. In entering into this Release Agreement I am not relying upon any oral or written representations or statements made by the Releasees with respect to the safety of participating in these courses other than what is set forth in this Agreement. I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS RELEASE AGREEMENT AND I AM AWARE THAT BY AGREEING I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS WHICH I OR MY HEIRS NEXT OF KIN EXECUTORS ADMINISTRATORS ASSIGNS AND REPRESENTATIVES MAY HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASEES.
