Course Objectives/Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of the course the participant will be able to:

Participants will be able to describe the unique characteristics of specific patient populations (the developing runner, the post-menopausal runner, and the geriatric runner)
Participants will be able to determine a specific timeline for returning to running determined by the specific MRI grade and the fracture site severity.
Participants will be to discuss critical medications that have a negative impact on the human skeleton
Participants will be able to describe specific stress fracture sites that are appropriate for surgical considerations
Participants will be able to define relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) and the athlete triad
Participants will be able to list the factors that modify the loads placed on bone
Participants will be able to describe the factors affecting how bone handles stress
Participants will be able to complete a thorough subjective examination focused on potential bone stress injury detection
Participants will be able to complete a thorough subjective examination focused on the diagnosis of lower limb tendinopathies
Participants will be able to perform an objective examination focused on the lumbar spine, hip, thigh, lower leg, and foot.
Participants will be able to design an exercise program focused on improving bone density and strength.
Participants will be able to design an exercise program focused on improving tendon stiffness, strength, and endurance
Participants will be able to describe the role of plyometrics in bone stress injury recovery and how to implement plyometrics during a return-to-run program.
Participants will be able to develop and prescribe a return-to-run program designed for a specific individual runner.
Participants will be able to describe specific considerations for stress fractures of the sacrum, femoral neck, femoral shaft, navicular, 5th metatarsal, calcaneus, and sesamoids.
Participants will be able to describe the negative effects of fluoroquinolone medications in tendinopathy management
Participants will be able to describe the role of footwear during bone stress injury reha
Participants will be able to describe the role of footwear during tendinopathy rehab
