You're nestled in your cosy space with a fresh page to work on, you have your favourite art supplies and some inspiring resources that came in your email pack - and you are logging into zoom to enjoy a very special kind of art class. This is your New Moon Creative Session – a monthly online art journal workshop designed to nurture your soul and ignite your creativity."

THEME FOR FEBRUARY 28th: Magnetic Manifesting

A beautiful opportunity to think about something really important to you - a need or a want or that desire that never fades....
Our artwork this month is about being open to noticing opportunities and being brave enough to take the steps towards what we want. Like magnets being pulled together.

Bring along art supplies in colours that feel strong, confident and powerful! (I will be working in deep pink, bright red and gold)

Class description:

In nature the new moon is the beginning of a cycle that repeats continuously - a cycle begins, work & growth, harvest, rest & reset.

In our busy lives we have become so disconnected from this rhythm and tend to power through always in productive mode. Without the little jolts of creative energy that come with growth and the inspiration and healing that comes from peaceful periods of rest it can leave us feeling burn out, overstimulated and exhausted. Tuning into this cycle as source of inspiration in art is an amazing way to get creative AND think about practical self care strategies.

Each new moon session you will be guided through a creative activity over zoom, with step by step instructions and a demonstration you can watch and follow along with. Together we will weave together art making and learning new art skills with mindful reflection.

Create an interesting background for the artwork, using materials like collage and paint
Think about the four elements : goals or wishes for this cycle, practical actions, the benefits and rewards, rest and self care
Create a gorgeous abstract artwork using a different art technique each month - no drawing skills required, fun and easy! This is a super inclusive, accessible art method!
Personalise it to reflect your own wishes, plans and cultivate a deeper sense of self-care.

ART NOTE: The art works we will make are mixed media - meaning we use different types of art supplies and techniques built up in layers. The idea is to create interesting textures, effects and designs that reflect you, so there is no pressure to create a realistic image and low risk of ending up with a muddy brown mush!

No artistic experience is required, only an open heart and a willingness to play. This is your space to experiment and to discover the magic that unfolds when you connect with your inner artist."

You worry about not having the art skills to create something you'll find pleasing - and you enjoy learning, step by step instructions and guidance
You like the idea of zoom: the ease and privacy of home, but still feeling part of a live experience with the chance to ask questions and share ideas
The idea of a new moon ritual is not religious or attached to any particular belief system, so you can use this idea to align with your own values, beliefs and life path. This is about creating a repeatable practice that reflects your own creativity and your own self care choices.

What is included:

An email with printable resources and materials - a 1.5 hour art workshop live over zoom - heaps of inspiration and creative sparkle!

Materials required:

A sheet of A4 paper to work on - something sturdy is great, but office paper or an art journal are absolutely fine.
A glue stick, scissors and some collage materials like an old magazine, junk mail etc
Some acrylic paints (and a brush, water and something to mix on) - or paint markers that can draw onto coloured surfaces
Any of your favourite art supplies or materials you want to include in the process
Optional but recommended: print out your resource pack which will include things like collage materials, tracing sheets or guides

FAQ:

Will there be a replay if I can't make the live class? yes, you will get an email the following day with a replay so you can watch if you missed the session or rewatch the activity
Will people be able to see my art project on the zoom call? usually no, most people have their device set up so they can watch the screen and their artwork is not on camera
Do I have to be on camera during the class? At the beginning and end of each class I do a check in and ask people to be on camera (but on mute) so we can all connect and it helps people feel comfortable if they can see who else is online - but you are welcome to switch the camera off during the art making session if you prefer.

$28 per session, per household (why not invite a friend over to do the workshop together!) $21 concession/pension/student
