Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder - Alcohol Spectrum Disorders- the Missing ACE

Educating a child with a disorder on the fetal alcohol spectrum can present many challenges for educators. It is vital for the educators who support them to understand the reasons behind the learning and behavioral challenges so they can utilize “out of the box” strategies for this neuro-diverse population.

Participants will be able to: Explore risk factors, describe FASD and the connection between brain impairment and behaviors, explore diagnoses under the FASD umbrella, identify “red flags” for potential FASD (there are far more students with an FASD than are diagnosed), discuss reframing and other strategies to use in the classroom and educational settings.
