The PIT Certification Course is designed to provide an understanding of the hazards of operating a powered industrial truck and the requirements for the safe operation and maintenance of a powered industrial truck. A Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) includes forklifts, pallet jacks and other lift trucks. The PIT Certification is good for 3 years.
If you have any employees with prior forklift experience and they have not been certified within the last 3 years, they must attend the course and be certified at their site before they may legally operate a forklift at your worksite.
Upon successful completion of the course, an independent drive test will be scheduled utilizing the PIT(s) at your employee’s specific work location(s).
This is NOT a training class. If you have no experience operating a forklift, you may still attend. However, there will be limitations on the certification.

You must attend and pass the classroom portion in order to qualify for certification. This includes passing the written exam

NOTE: For employees attending the class. After you pass the classroom portion, the trainer will set up a date/time to visit the worksite and observe your operation of the forklift. You will have to operate the lift at the location where you work, on the lift that you will be using, doing tasks that are normally required. The lift must be in good operating condition and must be available for use.

You must RSVP for the employee, provide an email address for the employee attending, and provide the name and phone number of the site Supervisor.
