It is important to have deep content knowledge at your own grade level to ensure your instruction is effective for all learners. This means as a teacher, not just knowing how to do the math but understanding also how students will progress, develop and refine their thinking and problem solving skills within the most important concepts.

When teachers deeply understand the content of the grade bands they teach, they are more readily able to support ALL learners in learning this math well. Multliplication Part 2 will dig deeper into strategies and models that support multiplication concept development across grade levels and complexity of numbers. We will examine multiplication through the lens of problem solving, games and provide you with the tools you need to understand the development of multiplication at a deep level and support your students in doing the same.
