Course Description:

This is an entry level course emphasizing screening, testing, and manual skills for the hip, knee, and ankle joints. The class will be focusing on improving objective examination skills of joint screening, red flags, and implementation of special testing. Treatments taught in the class will be heavily focused on manual interventions with the addition of some taping techniques for each joint. The class content will be presented with a combination of lecture and case studies with a heavy emphasis on hands on lab skills.

At completion of this 8 CEU course, the attendee will be familiar with the following topics:

Identify relevant anatomy and anatomical considerations for the hip, knee, and ankle joints with respect to diagnosis and treatment of common disorders.
Identify red flags and appropriateness of patients presenting with pain in the lower extremities.
Demonstrate common tests and measures of the hip complex to assist in determining a physical therapy diagnosis for patients presenting with hip, knee, and ankle pain and dysfunction.
Identify and demonstrate appropriate manual interventions for disorders of the hip, knee, and ankle.
Demonstrate a variety of taping techniques, including kinesiotape and leukotape, for supportive treatments of the hip, knee, and ankle.
Be encouraged to continue treating a person and not a disease/condition.

Coffee and light snacks will be provided, and the attendees will break for an hour independent lunch.
