Program Summary

In this workshop, we will focus on how to incorporate music experiences with clients, with techniques informed by the fields of music therapy, expressive arts therapy, and community healing practices. The first hour of this workshop will be education on the foundational principles of music from neurobiological, cultural, and trauma-informed perspectives. In the second hour, we will bring in active music listening, somatic/bodily awareness, multidisciplinary art techniques, and voice exploration as an embodied component to this training. This workshop will include take-home ideas on using music in your daily life, both personally and professionally.

No prior music experience is required to attend, but come with an openness to creative exploration. We recommend having a notebook for note-taking and experientials as needed. This workshop is facilitated by Amanda Rosado, MT-BC and Betsy Funk, LCSW, LIMHP, REAT.
