Burnout

Taught by Parker Rhomberg, Ph.D, this class will discuss how the world of work has morphed and changed in recent years. Each participant will complete a self-assessment for their current level of burnout and will discuss their results. The class will introduce strategies for prioritization and time management and will encourage participants to reflect on their own energy drivers and modes of self-care.

Work/Life Balance

Taught by Dan Suitor, Ph.D. Achieving a healthy work-life balance is important for one's overall well-being, as it can reduce stress, improve mental health, and increase overall satisfaction in both personal and professional aspects of life. However, striking this balance can be challenging, especially in today's fast-paced and demanding world, and may require a combination of time management skills, flexible work arrangements, and a willingness to prioritize and make changes to one's lifestyle. This presentation will attempt to help participants understand the characteristics of a healthy work-life balance while also equipping them with strategies to achieve this balance in their own lives. This presentation will include didactic instruction coupled with a significant amount of interaction that will allow participants to share challenges as well as glean effective strategies from each other.

Resilience

Taught by Brandon Kozar, PsyD MBA, learn the basics of developing a resilient mindset and a new way of approaching and managing stress. This course will introduce the psychological concept of resiliency and explore the science behind what makes some people more resilient and persistent than others.

Trauma

Taught by Katherine (Katie) Abrahamowicz, Psy.D. Trauma can be experienced first-hand or secondarily. Both have been linked to brain, mood, social, and functioning changes, especially when the trauma is recurring and/or frequent. The training will provide research about trauma, discuss the impacts on functioning, identify warning signs of impacts of trauma, and introduce coping skills.

Assertive Communication

Why do so many of us find it so hard to speak directly about our intentions and desires? Especially during interpersonal conflict! To communicate assertively is to acknowledge your control over yourself while respecting others’ choice to respond/react as they will. Learn about what drives you to respond in the patterns you do and acquire skills and language to respond in a more assertive way.

Leadership

Taught by Dr. Chip Tell, PsyD. This session will discuss several different kinds of leadership and core leadership elements to effectively work with, motivate and inspire people to do their jobs with quality and consistency. Topics discussed include:

effective communication
creating a psychologically safe team culture rooted in strong trust
navigating office politics
building diverse teams
leading with emotional intelligence
navigating interpersonal relationships
fitting the right people into their best fit chairs
embracing change
resolving conflict
task delegation
working with efficiency
