Our internships are aimed primarily at IHS alumni who want to expand on their archaeological skills, learnt from previous IHS programs, but we will make exceptions for non-alumni for the right individual. Our internships are based at our archaeological projects in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. Our summer programs take place between May 15th and August 14th, 2027.

Internship tasks focus on site survey, archaeological and historical research and post-excavation. Students stay with local families in homestay accommodation, guaranteeing an enriching cultural immersion and truly memorable experience.

Fee includes all meals, accommodation, tuition, instruction, equipment and field trips.

Scholarship support is available to IHS alumni through our ‘Alumni Scholarship Scheme’. It is an open, competitive process (note that scholarships, if awarded, are typically in the region of €500).
