Obeya Fundamentals

Your first step into organisational clarity and alignment

The Obeya Fundamentals certification gives you the knowledge and hands-on experience to understand, set up and work with an Obeya. You learn how to connect strategy to execution, make the information that matters visible, and create the conditions for faster and better decisions.

Is this for you?

You will get the most from this class if you are:

A manager or team lead looking to improve alignment and decision velocity
A change agent or consultant supporting organisational transformation
An Agile, Lean or SAFe practitioner adding Obeya to your toolkit
Ready to start working with Obeya professionally

This is probably not for you if you already run an Obeya and want to redesign it or facilitate it better. Go to Builder or Host.

What’s in your way right now

Your walls are full of information and your meetings still end without decisions
Strategy is agreed at the top and unrecognisable three layers down
You have tried a visual board and it quietly died
Nobody can say what the room is actually for

Just imagine

A room where anyone can walk in and see, in ten seconds, whether the organisation is on track. Meetings that replace other meetings instead of adding to them. A place where the awkward question gets asked because the data made it unavoidable.

What you’ll be able to do

Define the purpose and success criteria for your own Obeya
Use the 11 Obeya Principles and the four quadrants to design and evaluate your setup
Structure an Obeya with PDCA as the underlying logic
Facilitate Obeya meeting routines with confidence
Apply visual management that reduces cognitive load and drives action
Run the Obeya Focus Scan to decide which principles to tackle first

What happens in the class

One day covering what an Obeya is and where it came from, why organisations need one, the 11 Obeya Principles grouped into the four quadrants of Mindset, Alignment, Workspace and Content, the room itself, the Builder and Host roles, meeting routines and performance dialogue, and how to start without stalling. You apply the Obeya Focus Scan to your own situation.

The facts

Passing the Fundamentals exam includes one year of Obeya Association membership. Renewal is €75 per year, billed by the Obeya Association, and it is optional unless you plan to progress. Your Fundamentals certificate itself does not expire.

Your next step

Book a date. Most people who take Fundamentals continue to Builder or Host within six months, so if you already know which way you lean, tell us and we will sequence the dates for you.
