Do you want to learn how to diagnose and smoothen problem nibs? Learn how to fix simple problems and decide when to seek professional help. Learn from Sunny Koh, a Singapore-based practicing nib worker trained by Richard Binder (2013) and Nathan Tardif (2015), co-founder of Straits Pen LLP.

No prior nib-working knowledge is needed for beginners—you just need to know fountain pen basics.

How to use a loupe for diagnosing problems
Understand the perfect nib geometry
Testing the pen ink flow using Japanese techniques
Tine alignment and flow adjustment
Nib smoothing using the Binderize Method

Alternate sessions on Friday, 1:45 PM to 4:45 PM and Saturday, 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM (3 hours).

Students will be provided with a Jewellery Loupe (30X, 7X Real), a sample vial of Ink, Micromesh/Lapping Film, two pilot-style steel nibs (one misaligned), and a WingSung 3001A Pen—just enough materials to tune many pens by themselves.
