Led by local artist and educator, Bregan Ford, in partnership with Blanco River Academy, this open air workshop is part of a nature-focused series designed to teach participants the importance of creating with consideration to the environmental impact of materials and techniques. Participants will engage with nature using natural clays and found materials (like sticks, leaves, and pebbles).

What is land art?
Land art is an art movement where artists create directly into the landscape using materials found within the natural space. Pieces are ephemeral, devolving over time at the hand of nature; this evolution is often captured using photography and video.

Recommended ages.
This workshop is designed for families with children age 6 and up, though registration is open to all ages. Each registration includes two people. All minors must be accompanied by a registered adult 18 years or older.

What's included?
Registration for this hands on 1.5 hour workshop includes all materials and instruction necessary for each participant pair to engage in an immersive land art experience. Additional family members may be added during registration within the Available Add-ons section.

What to expect.
Participants will receive a relaxed overview of the process, including discussion and exploration, before beginning work. Participants will then use simple clay tools and found materials to create their works. Over the following days, the creations will harden, eventually washing away and rejoining the earth, stressing the beauty of impermanence. Check out our Instagram for more pics!

This event takes place rain or shine on the front lawn of the Blanco River Academy campus.
