First Aid Essentials – Skills That Could Save a Life

Would you know what to do if someone suddenly became unwell or had an accident?

Join us for a friendly, practical First Aid session designed to give you the confidence to step in and help in an emergency. You don’t need any previous First Aid experience – this session is all about learning simple, potentially life-saving skills that anyone can use.

During the session, we’ll cover:

Approaching an accident safely – what to do first and how to assess the situation
Someone who is unconscious but breathing – how to help and keep them safe
CPR – including hands-on practice and how to use an AED (defibrillator)
CPR and women – including why women are less likely to receive CPR and some of the barriers that can prevent people from stepping in
Choking – recognising the signs and knowing what to do
First Aid kits – what you really need to have in one
Heart attacks – including how symptoms can present differently in women
Strokes – how to recognise the warning signs and act quickly
Sepsis – what it is and the important signs to look out for

And, if time allows, we’ll squeeze in a few more useful First Aid tips too!

This is a relaxed and informative session with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and practise some of the techniques yourself. The aim is simple: to help you feel more confident about knowing what to do when someone needs help.

This is event is free of charge and is brought to you by Pimm's and Needles CIC and Funded through Point North's 'Enriching Later Lives' fund.
