Raku Making: Elements of Transformation

Explore the art and meaning of transformation at Elemental Studios In this hands on making session, we'll create pots for our Raku Fire on December 5 (3–7 PM) while exploring the many transformations that take place throughout the ceramic process, from raw materials mined from the Earth to clay, glazes, and finished forms. We'll also consider the parallels between the transformation of ceramic materials and our own growth and development as humans. Through mindfulness, self-awareness, self-compassion, and a little playful experimentation, we'll explore how change happens, what helps us grow, and how hope, perseverance, gratitude, and lovingkindness can support us along the way. Come ready to make, explore, and have fun with the possibilities of transformation. Making sessions are offered November 21 and November 28. No experience is necessary. We'll teach you how to make pots and will help you prepare them for the raku firing. Registration for each session is separate. You can join us for one or both making sessions in addition to the firing, or you can join us for the firing alone by bringing your own pots or choosing one that we'll have ready for your to decorate.
