Watercolor Made Easy - October 12 - Painting glass

Paint from the comfort and safety of your own home during the times that work for your schedule. You don’t need to be present in Sun City West nor in the state. Heck, still in Canada? No problem. With this method, you will need to register for all classes in the month but can start at any time and watch at your leisure during the month, pause and rewatch all the videos again. After you have registered and paid, you will get access to a private Facebook group set up for that month’s lessons. (A link will be sent to you.). Each week I will do a lesson including a demo for the subject of the month plus the previous week’s demo will be kept up all month and into the first week of the following month. The photograph I’ll be working from will be posted for you to use or you can paint a similar subject using the techniques you are learning. The subject matter will change from month to month. Yes, you can do this even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before. I will guide you through each step. In the process you will learn everything you need to know to become a good artist.

If you have questions about your painting or want a critique, send me a message and photograph via Messenger or to my email watercolorsue@gmail.com.

Colored pencil like any other medium starts with technique and patience, as it is a building process of blending many layers of a combination of colors. We will begin with simple subjects. For the first few lessons you will not have to decide what you want to create, as that will be supplied for you. If you have never used colored pencil I know you will love it and enjoy the learning process. As I have learned over the years there is always more to learn for those of you who have experience in this medium. Plan on taking the class over a period of time as it is a building process.

Drawing Class Descriptions

All courses are studios, which meet for eight consecutive weeks. Each class consists of a brief lecture and demonstration by the instructor followed by in-class participation by the students in various studio projects. Students will receive individual guidance as well as a professional critique of their work.

Beginning Drawing

This eight-week studio course is an introduction to the art of representing three-dimensional objects and environments in two dimensions. The class will address the use of the design elements of line, shape, value, color and texture as well as provide an introduction to various types of drawing mediums. Students will learn the basic principles of linear perspective and will practice drawing simple shapes and objects.

Intermediate Drawing

This class is a continuation of the Beginning Drawing class, and is for those student s who have already taken that class or who have already had some previous drawing experience. Further exploration of various types of lines and the importance of values and textures will be stressed along with further exploration of the principles of two-point and three-point perspective. The concept and importance of composition and Gestalt theory will be presented. Students will again work in a studio setting, drawing from still-life settings.

Advanced Drawing

This class will allow students to explore more complex drawing challenges with the guidance of the instructor, focusing on the importance of atmospheric perspective and accurate rendering of textures and surfaces. Greater emphasis will be placed upon overall composition and dynamic use of value and linear perspective. Individual exploration will be encouraged and the class will be tailored to the needs of the students enrolled.
