NRA Pistol Instructor Certification

You’re an accomplished shooter. People always ask you to take them to the range and help them learn how to shoot. That’s great! You are a resource for your friends. How about this?

This course is NOT for the new or novice shooter. You MUST possess some shooting experience and have completed other professionallly led training courses.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to become an NRA-Certified Pistol Instructor? It takes Knowledge, Skill, and Attitude. If you have all three, you may be a good candidate for the next Instructor Development Workshop (IDW).

Oftentimes, an NRA-Certified Pistol Instructor is the first point of contact for a new shooter looking to learn about the shooting sports. That is an awesome responsibility to have. A good instructor will have a good approach to training, and possess a desire to help the new student succeed.

The RPD, LLC instructional methods have been used to create well-rounded students and instructors for other subjects and organizations.

If you are a new Instructor, you must complete the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting prior to attending this course.

PLEASE NOTE: The course tuition DOES NOT INCLUDE the NRA student level Basics of Pistol Shooting course (8hrs). You will need to complete this step prior to the workshop.

The tuition includes the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) -6hrs, and the Pistol Instructor training modules (10hrs) as well as Dave's 25+ years experience as an instructor. All told, you will receive over 16 of training to become a certified Pistol Instructor. All three modules are required by the NRA to become a Pistol instructor. If you have completed either the BIT or the Basics of Pistol Shooting course within the last year, contact us.

I enrolled in the class not with the aim of enhancing my shooting skills but to refine my teaching abilities. The highlight of the experience was Dave’s infectious passion and his exceptional approach to conducting the class. From the moment he entered, Dave transformed into a mentor, imparting wisdom and sharing his vast experience with us. The true value of this class lies not in the tangible skills acquired but in the treasure trove of knowledge Dave provided. Dave has become a figure I truly admire, not only for his expertise but also for his unparalleled dad jokes—so much so, I humorously think that, much like the state’s ammunition regulations, New York must have imposed a ‘joke limit’ on him! Thank you Dave for giving back to the industry and the community!
