The USCCA’s Defensive Pistol Program (DPP) is a comprehensive course designed to help participants develop essential defensive shooting skills using both live-fire and dry-fire training methods. The program focuses on both objective- and performance-based training. Utilizing motor learning and skill-acquisition science, DPP ensures participants are equipped with the knowledge and practical experience needed to effectively use a pistol in a defensive context.
This live-fire program is designed to introduce responsible gun owners to the safe handling and effective use of a pistol while developing essential defensive shooting skills to be used in a concealed carry and/or home-defense context.
Main lecture topics include:
- Understanding defensive context
- Probability and self defense data
- Home defense considerations
- Ammunition and ballistics
- Concealed carry considerations
Range (dry and live fire) topics:
- Session 1: Fundamentals of Defensive Marksmanship
- Session 2: Presentation From Concealment
- Session 3: The Balance of Speed & Precision
- Session 4: Defensive Response
- Session 5: Malfunctions & Single-Handed Shooting
This program is designed for new pistol owners, the novice, and even experienced gun owners who wish to learn about concealed carry and defensive use of their handgun. If you have not taken a concealed carry type course, this is a great way to start! The adaptable/adjustable curriculum for this course is molded to the attendee’s skill development compared to a curriculum based approach.
The course is broken up into short, frequent training sessions. The first one is the Main Lecture classroom presentation of approx. 2 to 2.5hours. The remaining 5 sessions are between 3 and 4 hours each. Maximum class size is 8 people, which means you get a lot more individualized attention. The DPP course can be completed in 5 days back-to-back, or it can be spread out over 5 weeks, one day a week.
Dave will be able to conduct this course in a group/open enrollment sessions, or privately during 1:1 or 1:3 lessons.
The cost of the group format course (over 4 people) is $550. The tuition covers all training sessions, range fees, etc.
The cost for this program privately is $775
