Pistol Defense Fundamentals
What is Pistol Defense Fundamentals?
Pistol Defense Fundamentals is the essential first step for anyone serious about civilian legal self-defense. In just one class, you'll replace static range habits with dynamic, real-world techniques that prepare you to respond quickly and decisively under pressure. This is where your defensive pistol training truly begins - with confidence, clarity, and control.
The hard truth? Most firearms training in Florida stops short of what actually works in a life-threatening encounter. If you're relying on casual range time or YouTube videos, you're likely forming habits that could fail you when every second matters. Hesitation, poor grip, or misaligned priorities in a crisis can lead to tragic consequences.
This course promises to give you the tools and mindset to act - not freeze - when danger strikes. You'll gain the foundation to shoot accurately under stress and start developing the mental framework of someone who’s truly prepared.
During this 7-hour class, you’ll:
- Develop proper grip, stance, and draw stroke - essentials for consistent, confident handling
- Practice trigger control and reloading techniques to improve your handling
- Get immediate feedback on common mistakes and how to fix them
- Leave knowing exactly what to practice next
More than just a class—this is a system.
Pistol Defense Fundamentals is priced for accessibility but delivers high-impact training usually reserved for law enforcement or military. It’s beginner-friendly, milestone-based, and built to plug directly into our 3-level progression system, so you always know what’s next.

I had an incredible experience training with Valortec. From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and truly invested in our growth. Herfel Torres, the head trainer, along with PJ and Carlos, the assistant trainers, brought an amazing combination of military and law enforcement expertise to the course.
What really stood out was the small group setting, which lowed for personalized, one-on-one instruction. They took the time to break everything down, from stance, grip, and eye acquisition to integrating all the pistol mechanics into a smooth, confident foundation. You can tell they are passionate about teaching and committed to helping every student succeed.
Herfel’s sense of humor also kept the class fun and engaging, making it an even better learning environment. It’s rare to find instructors who can be so knowledgeable yet still make you laugh and stay relaxed under pressure.
If you’re serious about improving your skills and want top-tier training from instructors with real-world experience, I can’t recommend Valortec enough. Looking forward to continuing my training journey with them!
Herfel is a fantastic teacher. And no matter what he says awesome with the pistol. I cant wait to see what he can do with a carbine. I see why so many organizations seek his training. I recommend anyone of any skill level take this class, I guarantee you will learn something. I would also like to say that the pricing is fantastic for the quality of the training that you get. This class could easily be $500+. Thanks again Herfel I look forward to learning from you in the next class.

Herfal is the best trainer you will ever have. They are lucky to have him. You will gain incredible knowledge and your valuable skills in improving your shot.
This was my first class with Herfel and it was an excellent experience. I’ve taken a few other private classes before with other instructors. Herfel has the benefit of instructing from not only a competitive perspective and the techniques that benefit that type of training but also he’s got an extensive background in the legal, law enforcement side of things as well. He offered lots of information that I hadn’t received in other classes. The information ranged from home defense situations, conceal carrying tips and legalities as well as the traditional training on stance, form and target acquisition. Herfel’s professionalism shines through not only with the effectiveness of his feedback but also maintaining a personable relationship with his students. I never felt like I was messing up because his constructive criticism enhanced and built upon the skills that I had through understanding. Where other instructors could easily make you feel less competent, Herfel reassures and recommends solutions that improve performance throughout the class and afterward. I can’t wait to take another class with him to learn more from such an accomplished and brilliant instructor.
