Wild About Sailing

Curious about sailing?

Try sailing a 28-foot keelboat in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. This one-day discovery session gets you out on the water to see if sailing is for you.

We meet at Fox & Monocle at Canoe Cove at 8:30 am for introductions, then head to the boat. You'll be on the water until 4:00 pm.

What to bring

• Packed lunch
• Layers for warmth (it's cooler on the water than on land)
• Rain jacket if rain is forecast
• Shoes with soft, grippy soles (sneakers work great)
• Sun protection: well-fitting hat, sunglasses, sunscreen

What you'll experience

This is sailing for first-timers. No experience needed. You'll help with basic tasks, feel what it's like to be on a sailboat, and get a taste of what sailing involves. For maximum fun, register with a friend or two!

Sessions end with a conversation about:

• What you learned
• Your sailing goals
• Next steps if you want to keep learning

This program follows Sail Canada's Introduction to Boating standard.

Minimum registration

Two registrants are required for this event to proceed (so bring a friend!) This course is limited to four students. We require a minimum of two students for the course to proceed. If we don't meet our minimum enrollment, we'll work with you to find a convenient alternative date.
