Of Corset You Can! Corsetry Class

In this four-session corset workshop, students will construct the Aranea Black “Ivy” Overbust Corset from start to finish. Participants will build a closed-front, fully lined, and boned corset, beginning with cutting the correct pattern size and progressing through structure, assembly, and hand-finished binding. Along the way, students will gain a deeper understanding of corsetry through an overview of its historical roots and how corsets are used in modern fashion today.

This class focuses on one complete construction method from beginning to end, while also exploring and discussing the four other primary corset-building techniques so students leave with a broader understanding of the craft. Instruction will include an introduction to specialized corsetry tools and materials such as busks, grommets, and boning, with hands-on guidance on how to use them correctly and safely.

By the end of the workshop, students will have a finished overbust corset and a strong foundation in corset construction methods, materials, and techniques, empowering them to confidently explore future corsetry projects.
