If you’re a Florida licensed security officer or private investigator holding a Class “G” Statewide Firearm License, your performance and compliance are non-negotiable. You’ll cover rifle-specific performance and safety, including:

  • Safe rifle handling, range procedures, and policy-level accountability
  • Marksmanship fundamentals (stance, grip/stock weld, sight picture, trigger control)
  • Mechanical function, loading/unloading, and malfunction management
  • Performance coaching and consistency building
  • Professional review of Florida regulatory considerations, including Ch. 493 and relevant legal use-of-force concepts (776 / 790) as applicable to armed duties

Upon successful completion, you earn a Certificate of Firearms Proficiency supporting your compliance requirements and professional records submission.


What to Bring (Rifle Requalification)

  • A minimum of 90 rounds of rifle ammunition (matching the rifle caliber you’re qualifying with)
  • Your duty/issued rifle (or approved platform for qualification)
  • 3+ magazines (more recommended for smoother relays)
  • Mag pouches / chest rig / belt system suitable for safe reloads
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Range-appropriate clothing that protects from ejected brass and terrain exposure
  • Any authorized accessories you typically run (optics, sling, weapon light), if applicable

Qualification Standards

Written Test

  • 25-question written exam administered after the curriculum portion
  • Up to 1 hour to complete
  • Minimum passing score: 70%

Rifle Range Qualification

  • Passing score: 70% minimum — 105 out of 150 points
  • The qualification course is shot 3 times for a total of 90 rounds:
    • 1 practice round
    • 2 qualification rounds
