Upon successful completion, you earn a Certificate of Firearms Proficiency supporting your qualification documentation for licensing compliance.
What to Bring (Shotgun Requalification)
- Your duty/approved shotgun (12ga or authorized platform for your qualification)
- Buckshot ammunition: bring at least 24 rounds, with extra recommended for confidence and contingencies
- A method to safely carry spare shells (shell carrier, side saddle, belt pouch, or similar)
- Eye and ear protection
- Range-appropriate clothing that protects from ejected material and supports movement
- Any authorized accessories you typically run (sling, weapon light, etc.), if applicable
Shotgun Qualification Standards (Buckshot)
Minimum Passing Standard:
- 70% minimum — 50 hits out of 72 total hits using buckshot
Course of Fire:
- 3 cycles of 8 rounds each
- Total possible rounds fired: 24 rounds
Early Completion Rule:
- (Re)qualification may be concluded early if the student achieves a passing score on any one of the three cycles.
