Bronze Cross
Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training, including an introduction to safety supervision. All candidates must complete Bronze Medallion before taking this course.
The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as Assistant Lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society’s National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.
To be employed as an assistant lifeguard, an individual should be a minimum of 15 years of age and hold (at a minimum) a current Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross certification and a current Emergency First Aid certification. (Bronze Cross must be valid within 2 years. As a prerequisite for Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, and NL courses, Bronze Cross can be expired.)
Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion
The Canadian Lifesaving Manual is mandatory for participants. Please ADD-ON to course if you do not have a manual. This manual is used for all 3 Bronze level courses (Star, Medallion and Cross).
Whistle and pocket mask will be needed as well. Available as add-ons at registration, or email info@vancouverlifeguards.com if you need to purchase after registration. Candidates are welcome to buy from Amazon or Lifesaving Society on their own ahead of time.

Good experience. On time. Seems thorough. Confusion about needing the alert manual for homework to beable to answer the questions.
