Pistol Defense Fundamentals

Where Defensive Pistol Training Actually Begins

Pistol Defense Fundamentals is a seven-hour, science-driven course for responsible firearm owners who are serious about lawful civilian self-defense.

This course replaces casual range habits with a structured foundation built around biomechanics, grip efficiency, visual processing, trigger control, firearm access, and repeatable movement.

You will not simply learn what to do. You will understand why it works, identify the mistakes limiting your performance, and begin building skills that can be measured, corrected, and developed.

What You Will Learn

Students will work on:

  • Defensive stance and skeletal alignment
  • Functional two-handed grip
  • Safe and repeatable draw stroke
  • Trigger control
  • Visual processing and target focus
  • Loading and reloading procedures
  • Defensive accuracy
  • Identification and correction of performance errors

This course is beginner-friendly and serves as the first level of Valortec’s progressive defensive pistol training system.

Who Should Attend?

This class is designed for:

  • New and intermediate shooters
  • Concealed carry license holders
  • Firearm owners interested in personal protection
  • Students preparing for more advanced defensive training
  • Shooters who want to correct inconsistent or self-taught habits

No previous tactical training is required. Students must already understand basic firearm safety and be able to operate their firearm safely.

Student Requirements

Students must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Be legally permitted to possess a firearm in Florida
  • Complete a liability waiver before class
  • Bring and safely operate their own firearm

By registering, students confirm that they meet all age, residency, and firearm-possession requirements.

Course Cost

$350 per student

What to Bring

  • Valid driver’s license or government-issued ID
  • Semi-automatic pistol in .22 LR, .380 ACP, 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP
  • 250 to 300 rounds of ammunition
  • Outside-the-waistband holster
  • Minimum of three magazines
  • Magazine carrier
  • Sturdy belt capable of supporting the pistol and magazines
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Barrel safety plug, if available
  • Closed-toe, sturdy footwear
  • Water and snacks

Barrel safety plugs may be provided when needed.

Revolvers, pocket pistols, and compact handguns are not permitted for this course.

Can I Attend Without Owning a Firearm?

No. Students must bring their own firearm and required equipment.

Pistol Defense Fundamentals is not a certificate mill or casual range session. It is the beginning of a professional training process built around science, accountability, and measurable performance.

Understand the science. Correct the mistakes. Build performance you can trust.

I loved Herfel, he was the best of the best, I can’t thank him enough. I would have liked to talk with him more about red dots, holsters and concealed carry as well because he has great knowledge of what is the best. Not that he would push a company that he works with one way or the other. I just feel he would know the best ones to consider. He gave me his card, maybe I can E Mail him. Thankyou…
