Sailing for All! A 2SLGBTQI+ Discovery Sail

Sailing is for everyone. Come find out.

Join us for a day of high-performance sailing aboard Westerly, a Melges IC37 competition keelboat — and discover a sport where you belong.

This Sailing for All program is a partnership between Cascadia Sailing, Wild About Sailing, and Sail Canada, designed to build bridges between sporty and outdoorsy 2SLGBTQI+ people and Cascadia's expert sailors.

A real day on a real racing boat

This isn't a sightseeing cruise. You'll be invited into the action from the moment you step aboard, working alongside Cascadia Sailing's experienced racers as they prepare for the 2026 NYYC International Women's Championship. Expect to:

  • Get time at the helm and on the lines
  • Learn how a racing team communicates and works together
  • Receive real-time coaching and feedback
  • See what sailing looks like from the inside

Whether you've never set foot on a boat or you've crewed a few times, we'll tailor the day to your experience level. You'll come away with skills you can use on any racing boat, and a clearer sense of where sailing could take you.

Who this is for

Sport and outdoorsy 2SLGBTQI+ individuals 18 and over. No sailing experience needed — a sense of adventure and some physical confidence is all you require.

What it costs

The actual cost of instruction and boat access is $475 per person. Thanks to Sail Canada's Sailing for All grant, we're offering this at a highly reduced cost:

  • If you can comfortably afford this without sacrifice: $100
  • If paying any amount would create financial hardship: Pay what you can

No one will be turned away for inability to pay. Email annalise@wildaboutsailing.com, and we'll send you a discount code, no questions asked!

What to bring

  • Packed lunch and water bottle
  • Rainproof and windproof jacket and pants
  • Warm layers (it's cooler on the water than on land)
  • Warm hat and sailing gloves (let us know if you don't have them)
  • Soft, grippy-soled shoes (sneakers work great)
  • Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen

Please see Wild About Sailing's course booking, refund and cancellation policies for more details.
