A Day in Clay - Make Your Own Altar | Day Retreat at Walmer Castle
Due to popular demand, A Day in Clay: Make Your Own Altar is returning - this time to the stunning historic setting of Walmer Castle, Deal, Kent, on Saturday 16th May.
This special day retreat is hosted by Ramsgate Pottery and is an invitation to slow down, get creative, and reconnect with yourself through the grounding practice of working with clay. Guided throughout the day, you'll design and create your own unique altar - a deeply personal piece to hold intention, ritual, or meaning.
Your teachers
Gillian Farrell and Vivienne Yankah are talented ceramicists and experienced facilitators who will support you every step of the way, whether you're completely new to clay or you already love working with it.
Food
Nourishment will be lovingly prepared by retreat chef Eleanor Yankah, who has studied at the College of Naturopathic Medicine. Expect vibrant, seasonal dishes, pressed juices, healthy snacks and home baked treats thoughtfully created to energise and sustain you throughout the day.
The setting
Walmer Castle is a Tudor fortress on the Kent coast with beautiful walled gardens and sweeping grounds. Your place includes full access to roam throughout the day - perfect for a wander between sessions or a relaxed alfresco lunch in the gardens.

11:30am - Arrival, welcome drink and energy ball
12:00pm - Design, sketch & cut out the template for your altar
12:30pm - Making & building
14:00pm - Lunch & wander around the Castle Glay session
15:00 - 17:30 - Making & decorating
