I started pottery at the beginning of last year, and it has quickly become one of my favourite things. I always look forward to Tuesdays, it’s a special time each week to recharge, slow down, and create.
Viv’s approach is truly wonderful. She is not only a great teacher and a phenomenal artist, but also a beautiful soul whose calm energy creates a welcoming space filled with curiosity and empathy.
Gillian’s studio is very cosy, and in the summer it’s especially joyful to be surrounded by greenery and beautiful natural light.
I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a creative, nurturing, and inspiring experience.
My girlfriend and I had a great time on Valentines Day. Gillian was really friendly, very knowledgeable and took the time to take us through everything we needed to know about using the potters wheel. Even managed to make some questionable looking bowls! Totally recommend this place. Get booking if you haven’t already.
Absolutely brilliant, my friend and I had a great time. Karen was amazing at showing us what to do and providing help. A really relaxed and fun experience where we managed to make a few bits that we cannot wait to take home!

Lovely day; great hospitality and a wonderful group of people making it easy to be creative.
My second time at the Day in Clay (that says it all really) and this time I brought a friend with me who came all the way from London!! The warm and friendly space created by Gillian, Viv and Ellie means that I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed the experience, being able to make the altars, learning something new, meeting lovely people and at the same time enjoying Ellie’s yummy food and vegan cakes! Thank you team DIC! This is a brilliant day out whether on your own or with friends.

Another great follow up course, I set myself some pieces to make and had great and expert guidance from Viv and Gillian, who are so encouraging. I feel like I’m good at something and I’m really enjoying the learning, and more than that the friendships that we have developed. Well, we have come together for our love of pottery so of course there is friendship! Excited to be getting another 6 weeks in before the end of the year!
Our little group booked another 6 week course, allowing us to continue on our discovery of styles and methods of working with clay and the wonderful world of glazes!
Really great follow on class. Viv and Gillian have been really accommodating with choice of class time so the group could stay together.
Clay -day was such a well organised, relaxed, friendly , fun day. The food was absolutely amazing. And you do create and produce something to be proud of . Highly recommend . Would also make a fantastic present .
