This advanced workshop is designed to strengthen leaders’ confidence in managing effectively within a unionized environment. It moves beyond the basics to focus on real-world application to help supervisors and managers make sound, principles-based decisions, apply the collective agreement appropriately, and collaborate effectively with Human Resources.
Participants will learn through realistic case studies and practical exercises that mirror the complexity of everyday workplace issues. The emphasis is on judgment, documentation, and consistency, ensuring decisions are fair, defensible, and aligned with both organizational values and collective agreement obligations.
By the end of this advanced workshop, participants will be able to:
- Apply principles-based decision-making to real workplace challenges.
- Determine when to act independently and when to consult Human Resources.
- Conduct and document investigations effectively.
- Ensure consistent and fair treatment of employees to minimize grievances.
- Strengthen confidence in applying the collective agreement to day-to-day management issues.
