Wild About Sailing

Curious about sailing?

A one-day, hands-on introduction to keelboat sailing designed to give you a real feel for structured learning before committing to a full course.

We meet at Fox & Monocle at Canoe Cove at 9:00 am for introductions, then head to the boat. You'll be on the water until approximately 1:30 pm.

What to bring

• Packed lunch
• Layers for warmth (it's cooler on the water than on land)
• Rain jacket if rain is forecast
• Shoes with soft, grippy soles (sneakers work great)
• Sun protection: well-fitting hat, sunglasses, sunscreen

What you'll experience

This is sailing for first-timers and folks returning to the sport but no experience needed. You'll help with basic tasks, feel what it's like to be on a sailboat, and get a taste of what sailing involves.

Sessions end with a conversation about:

• What you learned
• Your sailing goals
• Next steps if you want to keep learning

This program follows Sail Canada's Introduction to Boating standard.
