Totes Matisse: Pattern Printing Workshop

With Lisa Feyen (Ink Moth Print Studio)

A vibrant printmaking workshop to accompany the exhibition Deux Hommes et une Femme.

Event Details

Date: Sunday 17th May 2026
Time: 10am – 12pm
Tutor: Lisa Feyen, Ink Moth Print Studio
Level: Beginners welcome (13+)

About the Workshop

Immerse yourself in colour, shape, and pattern in this hands-on workshop inspired by the work of Henri Matisse.
We’ll begin with a close look at the exhibition, drawing inspiration from Matisse’s bold use of simplified forms and joyful colour. Back in the studio, you’ll transform these ideas into your own designs, developing motifs that translate beautifully into repeat patterns.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop a simple motif inspired by Matisse’s shapes and colour
  • Learn how to carve your design into a lino block
  • Experiment with printing repeating patterns using bright, rich inks
  • Build rhythm and movement through layered printing on fabric

Take Home

The final result is your very own hand-printed cotton tote bag — functional, beautiful, and completely unique.
Perfect for beginners and those wanting to explore pattern and print in a fresh, playful way, this workshop is all about creativity, colour, and making something you’ll be proud to carry out into the world.
