Gold - Whanganui

Ideal for experienced riders looking to hone specific technical aspects of riding and riding styles. Groups can determine their own course content for the day.

What you’ll get out of it
The flexibility of the Gold course means the outcomes will relate to your needs. Typical areas of focus include riding in groups, riding with a pillion, counter steering and advanced cornering.

On the day
The day begins with a briefing and safety check then moves onto a mix of urban and rural roads. Some roads will be more challenging with higher speed sections. Practicing skills may take place off-highway with several stops for assessment, including a lunch break.

Ensure you wear protective motorcycle clothing, top to toe, and money to buy lunch. Also make sure your machine is warranted, registered and roadworthy and arrive with a full tank of fuel.

Please remove any communication device on your helmet as one will be supplied. If you have a comfy pair of in-ear headphones with a standard 3.5mm jack (mobile phone size), then do bring them along.

A day of valuable learning from Instructor Phil and sharing with like-minded course participants. I enjoyed the confidence boost from real-world application of skills as our group completed a sizeable loop around the region. A top day, thank you Phil!

A very informative coarse. The pre-ride talk covered a lot of info on why things happen. Also how and why a motorcycle behaves differently under varying conditions. The “Controlled Braking training was also helpful, followed by a “no stress” ride, with audible info from Philip. Highly recommended, no matter how long you’ve been riding.

A great course. I found the science and practical reasoning behind various motorcycle related theories very interesting.Including chassis geometry changes while braking and accelerating that also the affects your tyres.
The group talks were casually run affairs which encouraged a lot of comment and discussion.Practising some of these out on the road was encouraged and were good to experiment with.I found I need to work more on practicing using the vanishing point in corners as well.
5 stars for a well run course.
Mark Ellen.
